Most of us have some time or the other encountered the term social bookmarking on the internet but most of us don’t really know what it actually is. Well, social bookmarking is the process of saving the bookmarks of sites (the links of these sites) that are found interesting or useful and the individual would like to visit again in future. These links are saved to social bookmarking sites like Stumbleupon or Digg and these sites will enable you to access these bookmarks from a computer connected to the internet anywhere in the world.

The bookmarks that are a person’s favorites will also be available to various other people for them to see and visit, and this is where the social aspect comes in. If you wish that people should bookmark your site or page, first you would have to go to their website and register yourself with that social bookmarking site. Only then you will able to save all your bookmarks, tag them with the specific keywords and then share with anyone who is interested in your bookmarks.

So, in short social bookmarking is really very powerful. It is just another type of guerilla or viral marketing. It is an amazing method to increase the popularity of your site and marketing it at the very grass root level. However, you will have to be really careful as, sometimes there can be cases where everything that is on the web looks likes a good site, but actually all this is just a spam. So, this would make your site unappealing to the visitors. Hence, while bookmarking your site you should always be honest in whatever you do. Bookmark only those pages or sites that you feel are valuable and will be of help to others. Try to be judicious and submit only those pages that you think will be useful.

You probably know that one of the most effective ways to use Twitter to build your business is by directing your followers to another web page so that they can sign up to your mailing list.

There is another great way of promoting your business depending on what type of business you are promoting.

Let’s look at a situation where someone is promoting their restaurant through Twitter and they have built up several hundred followers and Tweet to them on a regular basis offering interesting advice and various recipes etc. They may find that just before they are opening for the evening they are especially quiet and as it is a rainy evening there is not much chance that people will visit without a booking.

A solution to this problem would be to post a Tweet stating that if anyone visits the restaurant on that particular evening will get a free bottle of wine or a discount on the meal. I can’t think of any other method that is able to reach such a large audience in such a short period of time. Don’t forget that this is a highly targeted audience and compare it with what the alternative would have been before Twitter, it would have had to be a case of hitting the telephone so as you can see there is no comparison.

This method applies to a variety of different businesses so it really is very adaptable and is only really limited by your imagination.

Using Twitter to build your business Part 2

To really take advantage of your Twitter account you really must build up a list of responsive followers but where an earth do you start? This is a question that I have been asked many times over and because it confuses many people they end up not doing anything with their Twitter account and simply give up.

One of the easiest ways I know to get followers is to find someone who is well known in your niche and who already has quite a large following.

You then go through the list and click on the follow button beside each persons name and you will usually find that within a short space of time a high percentage of these people will in turn follow you back.

You will have to do the occasional bit of maintenaince on your account such as removing the people who you are following and are not following you back but you will be amazed how many followers you can obtain over a short period of time.

I always seem to be saying this but it is absolutely vital that you only follow people who are in your niche, that is if you intend to use your Twitter for marketing purposes.

Can you just imagine having a few hundred or a few thousand followers who are all interested in what you have to say and how profitable that can be to your business?

Using Twitter to build your business Part 1

A brilliant method for building your online business is by using Twitter. The way to start is to open a Twitter account for whatever niche you are involved with and start by following people who are in the same niche and you will find that many of them will in turn follow you back.

Before long you will find yourself with a large list of followers and the trick is to try and get these followers onto your mailing list. The way to do this is to put together a simple report and offer this report to your followers. Whatever you do don’t bombard your followers with offer after offer, you should really wait until you have gained their trust and only offer help and advice whenever possible.

As you will be giving your report away without charge this will again ensure that you are giving help and not trying to make a fast buck.

When these people download your report they will leave you their email address and as the very well known saying goes, The money is in the list.

You will then have the opportunity to build up a strong relationship with these people and many people get to such a stage where they can more or less make money on demand simply by mailing to their list, it really can be that responsive.

This method can be carried out over a relatively short period of time and if you put your mind to it you can reach the position of having a large list before you know it.

The best way to describe Twitter is that it is a social networking site that allows you to leave messages for people and these messages are known as Tweets. The messages can be no more than 140 characters long and to sum it up, it is absolutely massive, getting bigger all of the time and can be an absolute goldmine for internet marketers.

It takes no time at all to build up a following of people who are interested in what you have got to say and as long as your Tweets are both helpful and friendly you will find that the relationship that you build with these people can prove to be highly beneficial.

It doesn’t matter how many Twitter accounts that you have so for instance it is quite acceptable to have one for each niche that you are involved in. You could have a Twitter account about gardening and if you go about it in the correct way you will soon have a following of people who are interested in gardening who, after you have given them some tips and tricks on the latest gardening methods, could well be interested in purchasing something through your recommendations..

There really is no end to the possibilities when using Twitter and it has proven to be an excellent way to keep in regular contact with a large group of people and the great thing about it is that it is completely free to use.

How to social bookmark quickly for top backlinks

One of the most effective ways of getting a high ranking through the search engines is by using the power of social bookmarking.

There are many tools that you can purchase which will do the social bookmarking for you but in my opinion that is no better than spamming and I much prefer to do it myself.

A quick recap on what social bookmarking is if you are not too sure. You know when you visit a web page that you like the look of and you decide to bookmark it in whatever browser you are using. Well social book marking is very similar only your bookmarking is saved in a website and not on the computer that you are using.

I find the best way to do this quickly is to decide which social bookmarking sites you want to register with and open an account with them. This shouldn’t take to long and remember, you only have to do it once.

When you get to a website that you wish to bookmark just click on the social bookmarking icons and leave the information as required.

As with all other forms of internet marketing stay within your niche and don’t try and spam as I can assure you, it will do more harm than good and you will basically be completely wasting your time.

Take your time and choose the websites that you want to bookmark with care, you will find that it will be well worth the time and effort.
